The Movie Theater Blues

It was quite a few years after John and Sue were married that they became increasingly tired of dealing with the annoyances at their local movie theater.  It seemed as if people had forgotten to respect others these days.  Sure, they could rent movies and watch them at home, but that sofa just wasn’t cutting it.  They had talked about home theater loungers before, but just weren’t at the point to commit.

Then something happened.  You might say that this was the straw that broke the camel’s back, or the last straw.  Maybe you’d call it the end of the road.  Whatever cliché you want to paste to this certain night in August, John and Sue were finished putting up with it. 

The Balmy Night in August That Changed These Movie Goers Forever

If anything could have gone wrong that night, it did.  John and Sue got to the movie early as usual.  They purchased their tickets and found out that the price had gone up a whole $1.00.  After buying popcorn and Sno-Caps (for Sue), John didn’t have enough left for a drink.  He found the ATM machine but it had a white sheet of paper taped to it that said “OUT OF ORDER.” 

He decided to go without his drink, but the decision had really been made for him.  They made their way down the aisles, and found their seats.  It was right about time for the movie to start when last minute movie goers sat directly in front of them.  They had to be the tallest people John and Sue had ever seen!  Worse yet, they were teenagers. 

About half way through the 3 hour movie, it began to get quite stuffy in the theater.  In addition to their stiff necks, the result of attempting to peer around the giants in front of them, discomfort set in from the heat.  It was a packed theater and they were thirsty.  It was at that point on that balmy night in August that changed their movie nights forever. 

Commitment to Comfort and Style

It wasn’t long after that night that John and Sue created their Home Theater, equipped with a 60" Plasma TV with surround sound speakers in the walls.  John and Sue picked out the home theater loungers with all the bells and whistles.  Their loungers had cup holders, motorized reclining, and the wireless bass feature!  They even chose the amber colored premium leather fabric which was perfect with their décor.

John had even picked up a soda fountain machine at a local restaurant auction - he wouldn't have to go thirsty again!  The popcorn popper added the perfect final touch.  They were no longer interrupted by less than considerate movie goers.  John and Sue also appreciated the money that they saved in the long run.

The fresh aroma of the popcorn filled the room.  It was movie night for John and Sue...it was their favorite night of the week.
